Cruise Notes: With two perfect tides it was to good to miss a chance of a full days run from Allington to Standard Creek out in the Medway Estuary. Departed early and locked through Allington Lock into the tidal Medway. A beautiful morning cruise with our first port of call to our friends on 'Odd Daisy B' at Port Medway Marina for breakfast, rafted up safely and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast with them before setting off once more heading out into the estuary, steady cruise at 1400rpm with not many other vessels about. Arrived at Stangate Creek and laid and set our anchor then lunch, on a very sunny, hot day. After lunch we lifted the anchor and commenced our return journey upriver back to Allington. Many more sailing vessels about during the afternoon which meant keeping a keen lookout for sailing yachts tacking in front of us, all good fun. Passing through Rochester we called up 'Odd Daisy B' again as we had been offered afternoon tea as well. Again rafted safely beside her while we enjoyed a cup of tea. At 16:30 we set off for Allington lock with an incoming tide and made good time, arriving at Allington Lock with plenty of water beneath us. Passed through the lock then a short trip to our home berth in Allington Marina. A great day out with one of the longest single day trips in the log book.

Cruise Notes: A very special cruise trip into Maidstone to ferry Cymantha and Stewart to afternoon tea at Lockmeadow, a thank you trip for their support during the last couple of months. Trip upriver marred by a stupid stunt by two idiots who decided to drop from Millennium Park bridge directly in front of us. Police informed and left them to deal with it.

On receiving the call that afternoon tea was finished we left Fairmeadow headed to Lockmeadow and collected our passengers then headed back to the marina, passing a very subdued group of youngsters still by Millennium bridge.

Cruise Notes: What was originally planned as an annual trip to Allington Marina for the yearly service is actually going to be a one way trip back to Allington as our home berth. Having been at Chatham for 4yrs 6mths we have both decided that it's time to return 'home'.

Gathered up all our mooring kit and departed from Chatham Marina. Set the throttles at 1100 rpm and took a beautiful cruise at 7 kts all the way up to Aylesford where we encountered the usual rubbish & detritus in the river. Entered Allington Lock and onto the non-tidal Medway.

Arrived at Allington Marina and took a temporary berth to await lift out tomorrow 7th September. Nice to be back where our boating began 15 years ago.

Cruise Notes: Run out on an upriver trip. Haven't used the boat since June and desperate to get out on the water again, this year will be one to write off with all that is going on. We will try and get a couple more trips logged before we take her back up to Allington for her annual service.

Starter by going upriver but by the time we had reached Port Medway Marina I had spent most of the time looking at the depth gauge! To early on the tide so said hello to some friends at Port Medway and turned to head out to the Medway Estuary. Ran out to Mussel Bank, hove to for a refreshing drink then turned to head back to Chatham. Usual weekend sailors out, tearing around at speed, no safety precautions, passing on the wrong side etc. etc. All adds to the fun trying to avoid them.

Called up Chatham Marina at 14:35 hrs for entry, finally locked in at 15:35 hrs, just one of those days. 😏

Cruise Notes: First cruise out to the Medway Estuary on one very hot, still day. Joined by Andy & Anita we punched the incoming tide at a steady 6kts all the way out. Located a nice anchorage spot at Slaughter House at the bottom end of Stangate Creek. Once secure enjoyed a very nice lunch with a glass of bubbly. Having cleared away we up anchored and headed back to Chatham, this time with the tide. A pleasant trip out only marred by the actions of another vessel travelling at speed in the 6 kts speed limit area at Folly Point (mark No.3 on route map) who almost swamped our boat with his wash.
Entered Chatham lock at high tide.

Moored astern of Odd Daisy B and boarded for coffee and a chat, Odd Daisy B being large enough to still abide by the 2m rule.

Cruise Notes: Oh joy, our first shakedown run out to test everything is running well following an enforced lay up due to the world CoVid 19 virus pandemic.

Kevayling had not been started or run since November 2019 so today we planned an early lockout and a run out to Folly Point, back to Medway Bridge and then home. The run out was faultless on a flat calm sea in beautiful sunshine, the engines were put through a range of power and checked periodically. On reaching Hoo Flats we turned and headed back upriver with the intention of paying a visit to friends moored at Medway Port Marina. Unfortunately due to a very low tide we were forced to abort the last half mile and head back to Chatham.

Wonderful to be back on the water and to know all is well with our boat.
