A short trip upriver to Tovil and then an about turn and headed back. Not a long trip but so good to be back on the water.

Cruise Notes: What was originally planned as an annual trip to Allington Marina for the yearly service is actually going to be a one way trip back to Allington as our home berth. Having been at Chatham for 4yrs 6mths we have both decided that it's time to return 'home'.

Gathered up all our mooring kit and departed from Chatham Marina. Set the throttles at 1100 rpm and took a beautiful cruise at 7 kts all the way up to Aylesford where we encountered the usual rubbish & detritus in the river. Entered Allington Lock and onto the non-tidal Medway.

Arrived at Allington Marina and took a temporary berth to await lift out tomorrow 7th September. Nice to be back where our boating began 15 years ago.

Cruise Notes: Run out on an upriver trip. Haven't used the boat since June and desperate to get out on the water again, this year will be one to write off with all that is going on. We will try and get a couple more trips logged before we take her back up to Allington for her annual service.

Starter by going upriver but by the time we had reached Port Medway Marina I had spent most of the time looking at the depth gauge! To early on the tide so said hello to some friends at Port Medway and turned to head out to the Medway Estuary. Ran out to Mussel Bank, hove to for a refreshing drink then turned to head back to Chatham. Usual weekend sailors out, tearing around at speed, no safety precautions, passing on the wrong side etc. etc. All adds to the fun trying to avoid them.

Called up Chatham Marina at 14:35 hrs for entry, finally locked in at 15:35 hrs, just one of those days. 😏

Cruise Notes: First cruise out to the Medway Estuary on one very hot, still day. Joined by Andy & Anita we punched the incoming tide at a steady 6kts all the way out. Located a nice anchorage spot at Slaughter House at the bottom end of Stangate Creek. Once secure enjoyed a very nice lunch with a glass of bubbly. Having cleared away we up anchored and headed back to Chatham, this time with the tide. A pleasant trip out only marred by the actions of another vessel travelling at speed in the 6 kts speed limit area at Folly Point (mark No.3 on route map) who almost swamped our boat with his wash.
Entered Chatham lock at high tide.

Cruise Notes: Early lock out to enable us to run upriver to Port Medway Marina to visit our friends on Odd Daisy B. Beautiful run out on a bright sunny morning, set throttles to 1000 rpm and cruised at 7 knots all the way. Moored astern of Odd Daisy B and boarded for coffee and a chat, Odd Daisy B being large enough to still abide by the 2m rule.

Following a lovely get together we departed for an equally smooth run back to Chatham on the ebbing tide.
