Cruise Notes: Oh joy, our first shakedown run out to test everything is running well following an inforced lay up due to the world CoVid 19 virus pandemic.

Kevayling had not been started or run since November 2019 so today we planned an early lockout and a run out to Folly Point, back to Medway Bridge and then home. The run out was faultless on a flat calm sea in beautiful sunshine, the engines were put through a range of power and checked periodically. On reaching Hoo Flats we turned and headed back upriver with the intention of paying a visit to friends moored at Medway Port Marina. Unfortunately due to a very low tide we were forced to abort the last half mile and head back to Chatham.

Wonderful to be back on the water and to know all is well with our boat.

Cruise Notes: Following lift in we departed from Allington Marina, passed through Allington Lock and headed back to Chatham Marina. Considerable rubbish in the river as far down as the Hawkwood Stone. After passing Snodland we were passed, at high speed, by a flotilla of high speed army assault craft going up river. Not sure who was more surprised us or the army. A rapid decrease in speed by them and a few exciting moments as we rode the waves! Arrived safely at Chatham.

Cruise Notes: Early morning start in the pouring rain saw us depart from Chatham Marina for the two hour trip up to the non-tidal Medway to be lifted out for the boats annual hull check and service. One of the few trips we've made where nav and instrument lights were required. Even with the poor weather it was a calm, steady motor up to Allington Lock and once through a short distance to Allington Marina.

Plan to be in Allington for a week before returning.

Cruise Notes: Return Kevayling to her home berth at Chatham Marina after four days upriver. Loads of debris in the river following a recent storm which made the first few miles somewhat difficult. Hard run against the tide in windy conditions but a safe entry in Chatham Marina none the less. Greeted in the lock by Annette.
