Cruise Notes: Boat lifted back into the water after annual service, test run to Maidstone and back to ensure all was working correctly  before setting off on the return tidal trip to Chatham. Departed from Allington Marina and passed through Allington Lock. On the tidal side of the river we were greeted with extensive rubbish and debris in the water which required careful manoeuvring, this cleared around Snodland. Boat ran well against the tide on the first half of the journey and very smooth once the tide changed. Bit of wind entering  Chatham Lock but no issues.

Cruise Notes: It's that time of year again to take Kevayling upriver to Allington Marina for her annual service. Departed from Chatham into a wind against tide water which settled after Cuxton. Heavy debris further upriver which was treated with caution and slow speed, ably spotted by our additional crew for the day. Arrived at Allington safely and moored up awaiting lift out on Monday.

Briefing our new crew before departure.
Time out for a selfie.
Looks like the crew enjoyed the trip.

Cruise Notes: Rochester C.C Sailpast. Departed Chatham in windy conditions and headed upriver to Rochester. On arrival we moored on the public moorings to await the departure of Rochester C.C boats from their moorings. While waiting we had time for a cup of tea and to dress the boat overall. All Rochester boats formed up in line stern and headed upriver to Cuxton where we turned, headed back downriver and lowered our ensign to the Commodore as we pasted the club moorings. The flottia continued to Sun Pier where we turned again heading back to Rochester where we moored for Sunday dinner. Having enjoyed dinner we departed for the run back to Chatham Marina. Windy approach making a difficult lock entry.

Forming up the flotilla for the sail past.

Cruise Notes: Windy day but didn't stop us taking Kerry, Rhys & Ben on a two hour run up river to show them the signs of the Medway. Little bit of spray heading past Cuxton Marina but apart from that no real effect from the wind. Offered our two new crew mates a turn on the helm but both declined the adventure! Turned at Holborough Reach without stopping and pushed the tide back to Chatham. Didn't have to wait go before being called in, moored in the lock on high tide so dropped half a meter to enter the basin. Plenty of help putting the boat to bed.

Departed from Chatham and took a steady cruise at 7 knots out in to the Medway estuary, turned into Stangate and anchored half way down the creek on the starboard just off of an outlet marked by stakes. Remained at anchor for some 3 hrs having lunch and afternoon tea. Just after the tide turned we lifted the anchor and headed back to Chatham on a rising tide. Made the normal foul up of reversing into our berth. :-)

Enjoying the sunshine at anchor.

Cruise Notes: Third day of Admirals Cruise weekend and today off out to the wreck of the USS Richard Montgomery. Departed from Rochester and ran to Chatham Marina to pick up Andy & Anita who were our guests for the day. On picking them up we motored back to Rochester for the start of the cruise in company with some 30+ boats. On heading out of the estuary we lowered our ensign and saluted the wreck site of HMS Bulwark, collected our flotilla pennant from the Mayor and hove to at the Montgomery wreck site for a short service over the VHF radio (the sea here was very confused & rough). Then headed into Stangate Creek where we dropped anchor and enjoyed lunch in the sunshine. Departed Stangate and headed directly back to Chatham Marina.

Called up Andy & Anita (in Chatham) and invited them to meet us on Chatham visitors berth, hove to as they boarded. Ran out to Long Reach before turning and heading back to Chatham against a strong ebbing tide.

Cruise Notes: First cruise of 2018 - Departed from Chatham Marina and headed out into the estuary on a very dull day but with no wind and a smooth sea. Due to the neap tide there was little flow to the incoming tide and an excellent opportunity to work the engines up to speed. On reaching Mussel Bank we turned and headed back with the little tide there was, passing Chatham and headed up river to Rochester where we turned again and headed back tothe marina.
Locked in with no trouble and moored bow first in order to clean the port side, we had already clened the starboard side erlier in the week.
Excellent run out with all systems performing well. Looking forward to a good cruising year.
